To prepare for the upcoming Open Studio next week, I have outlined several concise plans. The deliverables required include the results of user testing of the website with customization options and a video introducing the functionality of each website.
The user testing followed the established method, where participants read excerpts from papers displayed on each website and then responded to a pre-designed questionnaire. High scores in readability and concentration indicated that the website with these features matched my original objectives well.
The questionnaire used was as follows:
From previous user testing, I learned that in addition to design, maintaining a uniform level of paper readability was crucial for obtaining clear results. Therefore, I selected papers from various fields, ensuring the readability was appropriate for individuals over 20 years of age.
The average results of the tests were calculated as a percentage, as follows:
After completing all tests, I universally asked all participants whether the customizing option had helped them in reading digital text. All ten respondents gave positive feedback, which was a delightful affirmation of the coding efforts I had invested over the past three weeks.
The video was created to briefly demonstrate how each website functioned, focusing on showcasing 1. customization and 2. interactivity.
After sketching the scenes that best revealed these aspects, I proceeded with screen recording. The final product was as follows:
The customization options, a seemingly minor detail, had a significant impact on user experience. Through these activities, I gained a deeper understanding of how subtle design elements contribute to the overall user experience. Additionally, creating a video underscored the importance of clearly and simply communicating design concepts and functionalities. While video production was a time-consuming process due to my unfamiliarity, it proved to be an effective means of visually representing my work. I believe this will serve as a valuable lesson for future presentations or product introductions.
