Week 11

After working on the design layout, I set a goal to create a website using Visual Studio, allowing users to test the layout directly. The expectations from this effort are twofold: first, to familiarize myself with the code in advance, anticipating the use of the note feature in the future, and second, to assess through user testing whether the note box is genuinely helpful.

The code for the note part, where users can click on a word and have it updated in the note box, turned out to be less challenging than I initially thought. However, due to my limited HTML coding skills, creating the layout design I envisioned took a considerable amount of time.

Fortunately, with Andreas's help, I was able to complete the design, and I received some crucial feedback.

He suggested trying more diverse design layouts and emphasized the importance of continuing to evolve, considering this as just the first step. Furthermore, he recommended observing and designing website elements in various ways, combining them to explore different design approaches.

Feedback and Reflection

The challenges encountered during the workflow highlighted the need for ongoing emphasis on front-end design and coding studies to explore digital text more efficiently in the future. Additionally, Andreas's suggestion to playfully create and diversely arrange web design elements could provide a new perspective. Trying various arrangements might lead to unexpectedly positive outcomes, don't you think?

Micro studies

To achieve a more detailed design, I investigated how certain micro-elements used in web design could be designed and their implications on user preferences. Here are the key design considerations I discovered:

Italics: Italics do not impact knowledge and comprehension tasks but significantly influence analysis tasks. Students viewing pages without italics performed better than those with moderate italics for analysis tasks.

One Color: Students viewing pages with a single color rated the organization of the page higher than those viewing pages with six colors.

Importance of Fonts: Font selection plays a crucial role in web page design. Specific fonts can influence user emotions and impressions, affecting how users interact with the page.

This research allowed me to identify user-preferred design elements for web design. I anticipate that this information will be instrumental in future design projects.
